In October 2019, the Faculty of Environment – HCMUNRE launched an international collaboration program with Loyola University (USA) in Ho Chi Minh City.
As part of the program, faculty members and students from both universities participated in field trips to some of the city’s most fascinating sites, including the Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien Metro Line 1 Station area in District 1, and the Saigon River Tunnel Management Center in District 2.
The visit to the Metro Line 1 Station took place on October 9, 2019, starting at the Ho Chi Minh City Opera House. During the tour, the group was introduced by local experts to key information about Metro Line 1, including its construction process and the operational procedures of the station once it becomes active.
The second field trip was conducted on October 30, 2019, at the Saigon River Tunnel Management Center. At the center, the group was welcomed by the management team, who gave a comprehensive presentation on the construction of the tunnel, its management and operation system, and methods for handling potential incidents that may occur while vehicles are traveling through the tunnel.
These two excursions provided meaningful learning experiences and left lasting impressions on both faculty and students from the two universities. It is hoped that this will be the beginning of a long-term and fruitful partnership between HCMUNRE and Loyola University in the future.
