Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tham Hoang

Dr. Tham Hoang is an Associate Professor at Auburn University, USA, with over 15 years of experience in environmental science and toxicology. His research focuses on the impact and risk of pollutants (metals, synthetic chemicals, and notably microplastics) to the natural environment and aquatic ecosystems. His publications in high impact factor journals have earned him recognition, leading to invitations to speak at international conferences across North America, Europe, and Asia.

He is an active, longtime member of the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC), where he served as President of the Midwest Regional SETAC. Currently, he is a senior editor for the peer-reviewed SETAC journal, Integrated Environmental Assessment and Management, and an associate editor for two other journals.

Dr. Hoang is dedicated to enhancing environmental research and education in his home country, Vietnam. Over the past 15 years, he has organized and chaired a series of four International Conferences on Environmental Pollution, Restoration, and Management and numerous workshops in Vietnam. These events have attracted scientists from over 30 countries and fostered international collaborations. The most recent 2024 conference in Quy Nhon received strong support from the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment and the Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam.

His life’s work is driven by the goal of using environmental toxicology research to reduce pollution, protect natural ecosystems, and maintain a healthy living environment for humanity.

Tiểu sử PGS.TS. Thẩm Hoàng

Tiến sĩ Thẩm Hoàng là Phó Giáo sư tại Đại học Auburn, Hoa Kỳ, với hơn 15 năm kinh nghiệm nghiên cứu và giảng dạy về khoa học môi trường và độc chất học. Nghiên cứu của ông tập trung vào tác động và rủi ro của các chất gây ô nhiễm như kim loại, hóa chất tổng hợp, và gần đây là vi nhựa đối với môi trường tự nhiên và hệ sinh thái dưới nước.

Các công bố của ông trên các tạp chí có chỉ số ảnh hưởng cao, đặc biệt về vi nhựa, đã giúp ông được công nhận rộng rãi. Ông thường xuyên được mời báo cáo tại các hội nghị quốc tế ở Bắc Mỹ, Châu Âu và Châu Á. Ông là thành viên tích cực của SETAC (Hiệp hội Độc chất và Hóa học Môi trường), từng giữ chức Chủ tịch SETAC khu vực Trung Tây. Hiện tại, ông là biên tập viên cao cấp của tạp chí Integrated Environmental Assessment and Management và là phó tổng biên tập của hai tạp chí khác.

Tiến sĩ Thẩm Hoàng rất quan tâm đến việc nâng cao nghiên cứu và giáo dục môi trường tại quê hương Việt Nam. Trong 15 năm qua, ông đã tổ chức và chủ trì một chuỗi bốn Hội nghị Quốc tế về Ô nhiễm, Phục hồi, và Quản lý Môi trường tại Việt Nam, thu hút các nhà khoa học từ hơn 30 quốc gia và thúc đẩy hợp tác nghiên cứu. Hội nghị gần đây nhất (2024) được sự ủng hộ của Bộ trưởng Bộ Tài nguyên và Môi trường và Phó Thủ tướng Việt Nam. Mục tiêu của ông là sử dụng nghiên cứu độc chất học môi trường để bảo vệ hệ sinh thái và duy trì môi trường sống khỏe mạnh cho nhân loại.

Tiểu sử TS. Murugappan Basker

Với hơn 30 năm kinh nghiệm trên toàn cầu, ông Basker Stargard Murugappan là một chuyên gia uy tín về chuyển đổi năng lượng. Ông hiện giữ chức Giám đốc phụ trách Chuyển đổi Năng lượng, CCS, Địa nhiệt và Hydrogen tại Cục Năng lượng, Khoáng sản và Tài nguyên Thiên nhiên (EMNRD), dẫn đầu một đội ngũ đa ngành.

Trong suốt sự nghiệp của mình, ông đã làm việc cho nhiều công ty hàng đầu thế giới như Shell, UNOCAL, BP, Petronas và KNOC. Ông có kinh nghiệm sâu rộng trong các vai trò kỹ thuật sản xuất và hoàn thiện giếng, đã từng làm việc tại hơn 30 quốc gia trên 5 châu lục.
Hơn 15 năm qua, ông đã tập trung vào các công nghệ tương lai bằng cách áp dụng kinh nghiệm dầu khí truyền thống để tìm ra các giải pháp đột phá. Ông đang trực tiếp quản lý các dự án trọng điểm:

– Phát triển bốn cơ sở lưu trữ CCS lớn tại Mỹ, châu Âu và châu Á.

– Thiết kế và phát triển cơ sở lưu trữ hydrogen thương mại đầu tiên tại lục địa Mỹ.

– Tiên phong xây dựng giếng địa nhiệt khép kín đầu tiên ở California, một dự án thí điểm hợp tác với DOE và SHASTA để cung cấp năng lượng cho hơn 2.500 hộ gia đình.

Tốt nghiệp Thạc sĩ Kỹ thuật Dầu khí từ Học viện Mỏ và Công nghệ New Mexico, ông là một diễn giả giàu kinh nghiệm, đã đóng góp cho hơn 30 hội thảo và hội nghị của Hiệp hội Kỹ sư Dầu khí (SPE) trên khắp châu Á và châu Phi. Kiến thức chuyên môn sâu rộng và vai trò tiên phong trong các dự án năng lượng hiện đại khiến ông trở thành một diễn giả chính đầy thuyết phục.

Son V. Nghiem Biography

Dr. Son V. Nghiem is currently serving as a Senior Research Scientist at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL). He is also a Life Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). His solid career foundation was established at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he received his Ph.D. in 1991. His thesis focused on developing complex electromagnetic wave models for applications in the polarimetric remote sensing of geophysical media.

At JPL, Dr. Nghiem holds several key roles, affirming his leading position in Earth science and satellite technology. He is the Science and Applications Development Lead of the Radar Science and Engineering Section and the Discipline Program Manager of the Water and Energy Cycle Science Office.

His research is highly diverse, encompassing active and passive remote sensing, the design of advanced satellite radar and radiometer systems, and in-depth studies of electromagnetic scattering theories. His Earth science applications span widely, from the tropics to the polar regions. Dr. Nghiem’s academic contributions are immense, including authoring or co-authoring more than 130 peer-reviewed articles and over 500 conference articles. He has been honored with numerous prestigious awards from NASA, including three Exceptional Achievement Medals (in 2006, 2008, and 2010), along with the 2023 Voyager Award for his international leadership role in advancing remote sensing for high-societal-impact applications.

Tiểu sử Sơn V. Nghiêm

Tiến sĩ Sơn V. Nghiêm là Nhà Khoa học Nghiên cứu Cấp cao tại Phòng thí nghiệm Sức đẩy Phản lực (JPL) của NASA. Ông cũng là Thành viên Trọn đời (Life Fellow) của Viện Kỹ sư Điện và Điện tử (IEEE). Nền tảng sự nghiệp vững chắc của ông được xây dựng từ Viện Công nghệ Massachusetts (MIT), nơi ông nhận bằng Tiến sĩ vào năm 1991. Murugappan Basker Biography

With over 30 years of global experience, Basker Stargard Murugappan is a respected expert in energy transition. He currently serves as the Director of Energy Transition, CCS, Geothermal, and Hydrogen for the Energy, Mineral and Natural Resources Department (EMNRD), where he leads a multidisciplinary team. Throughout his career, he has worked for many of the world’s leading companies, including Shell, UNOCAL, BP, Petronas, and KNOC. He has extensive experience in production engineering and completions roles, having worked in over 30 countries across five continents.

For the past 15 years, he has focused on future technologies, applying his traditional oil and gas expertise to pioneer groundbreaking solutions. He is directly managing several key projects:

– The development of four large-scale CCS storage facilities in the U.S., Europe, and Asia.

– The design and development of the first commercial hydrogen storage facility in the continental U.S.

– Pioneering the construction of the first closed-loop geothermal wells in California, a pilot project in partnership with the DOE and SHASTA to provide energy for over 2,500 homes.

A graduate with a Master’s in Petroleum Engineering from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, he is an experienced speaker, having contributed to over 30 workshops and conferences for the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) across Asia and Africa. His deep technical knowledge and pioneering role in modern energy projects make him a compelling and authoritative keynote speaker.
